Preteens Encouraging Learning and Laughing

Thursday’s 5:15 – 6:45 pm

Age Range: 10 years old to early teens

Mode: In-person

This group was created for the preteens that have not had a place to expand and figure out who they are. This group is designed to help these kids learn through play and get to know one another. Board games are selected to work on cooperative interactions, turn taking etiquette, and being a “good” and supportive friend. Activities are selected specifically to get the kids talking, engaging, and interacting.

Expanding conversational skill beyond their own preference and taking a sincere interest in their peers is just one fundamental focus of this group. The second part of this group is to help them figure out their own preferences and the appropriateness of when and how to explore and share those preference. Other skills explored in this group will focus on following directions, practice decision making, and being flexible. If you  have been searching for a place for your preteen, this group could be a great fit!

Online Social Skills Group for kids and teens with developmental disabilitiesVirtual Vibes

Saturday’s 10:00 – 11:00 am

Age Range: All ages depending upon pairings

Mode: Online

It has been a difficult time for everyone as we navigate our changing world during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the world self-quarantined, we found a need to continue to provide opportunities for our clients to continue to grow and foster their social skills in an environment that some felt more comfortable accessing. This group focuses on social skills by promoting them through enjoyable, entertaining, and thought-provoking curriculum through the computer.

We acknowledge that many of our clients have spent the majority of their time learning virtually. Therefore, we ensure that the activities being presented are entertaining and playful yet create opportunities for social interactions.

This group is broken down into smaller subgroups depending on your child’s needs and their age appropriate peers. If you and your family are taking precautions to limit direct interactions due to COVID-19, but you would like to still provide structured social opportunities for your child, this group was made for you!
