What is ABA therapy?

ABA Therapy stand for Applied Behavior Analysis and it is a therapy based on the science of learning and behavior. Behavior analysis helps us understand how behavior works, how it is affected by its environment and how the learning takes place. ABA therapy applies to our understanding of how behavior works in real life situations. Our goal is to increase behaviors that are valuable and decrease behaviors that are harmful or affect learning. Behavior Analysis methods have been practiced and studied for decades. They are substantially helpful to learners gain different skill sets from daily life tasks to learning a new talent. Therapists have used ABA Therapy to assist children with autism and related development disorders since the 1960’s. ABA therapy helps improve communications skills and language. It also improves focus, memory, attention and academics. Also, our ultimate goal is to decrease problem behaviors. 

How does ABA Therapy work?

There are many techniques for comprehending and changing behaviors. ABA is flexible to fit the client’s specific adaptions and needs. ABA Therapy can be provided in different settings. We are able to provide services at home, school or in the community. We offer one-to-one teaching with just your child and a therapist, and Social Skills Groups where your child will be in a group instruction and enjoy being with their peers.
